How magic works in Realm of Knowledge

In the world of Realm of Knowledge, individuals are either born with magic or without it. There are two kinds of true magic: elemental and healing. Elemental magic reflects the elements of the gods. That is why magic is considered a blessing from the gods. It is not something that can be transferred genetically. Regardless, non-magical individuals can still pursue the Special Arts, which enable them to enhance their weapons or create magical shields, for example. However, this requires extensive training, and not everyone is able to achieve this difficult feat.

While the type of magic a person possesses is determined at birth, how it is expressed depends on the caster's personality. For example, a hot-headed fire mage would have a much more explosive form of magic than a soft-spoken fire mage. Similarly, a bright and bubbly healer might have bubbles that heal, while a careful and cunning healer might use thread-like magic. Thus, no two casters are alike.
